That’s why every golfer, whether a beginner or experienced player, needs to clearly understand and differentiate two essential skills: the Long Game and the Short Game. Each plays its own role in a golf strategy, and a harmonious combination of these skills is the key to improving your level and effectively lowering your handicap.
What is the Long Game?
The Long Game includes shots over 100 yards, usually performed during tee shots or fairway shots to approach the green. It reflects a player’s strength, accuracy, and swing technique. Clubs commonly used for the Long Game are drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, and long irons such as 3-6 irons. To excel in the Long Game, golfers must practice proper posture, control ball flight, and maintain a smooth swing rhythm. However, hitting far isn’t just about power – it’s an art combining technique, clubface angle, clubhead speed, and personal feel.
What is the Short Game?

On April 7, 2025, the legendary “White Shark” Greg Norman — a globally renowned icon in the golf world and the mastermind behind the overall design of Văn Lang Empire T&T Golf Club (Tam Nông District, Phú Thọ Province) — visited and conducted an on-site survey of the project. This visit marked his return after more than two years since the initial survey and represented the final preparation phase for the completion and operation of the 18-hole golf course in the near future.

During this survey, Greg Norman walked through every area of the course to carefully examine the terrain, turf quality, water features, as well as the layout and difficulty of each hole. He also assessed the natural slopes, grass smoothness, drainage capabilities, and the harmony between landscape elements and playing strategy. All evaluations were made against strict international design standards to ensure the course delivers not only top technical quality but also an inspiring golfing experience.
